THE WORLD IS BEAUTIFUL
German photographer Albert Renger-Patzch was a spearheading figure in the movement of 'New Objectivity', which was a focused and precise documentary approach to photography that came about in the 1920's. Other photographers that were part of this movement included August Sander and Karl Blossfeldt, and all these artists were going against the idea of expressionist photography- New Objectivity itself was standpoint against expressionism. Albert Renger-Patzch saw the world through a different set of eyes, and his work aimed to embody this perspective of natural and man-made objects; finding the beauty in them. In 19828, Renger-Patzch moved to Ruhrregion, where he took images that encapsulated the beauty and complexity of the ongoing industrialization at the time.
He also published a book in 1928 titled, 'The World Is Beautiful', a collection of 100 photographs that expressed his personal view on the world, with experimentation and precision acting as key underlying themes. This book became very influential in European Photography due to its refreshing and distinctly modern way of looking at the world.
